Animals, Nature, all Creatures, this is a topic very close to my heart.

I have always loved animals and for many years as a child and adult had pets.

I was also blessed for a short while to be a Trainee Handler at the UK Wolf Conservation Trust here in the UK – such amazing creatures.

Have you heard of Trophic Cascades? Have you seen either of these short videos?

My love of animals goes back to my early childhood, my early life experiences left me very insecure around people but not with the family dog and cat, they where my friends, I felt safe and loved with them.

Don’t get me wrong I was loved by my family and well cared for but circumstances as a very young child had really affected me, all part of my healing journey but that is another story.

The more I learn about animals, the more I interact with them and spend time in Nature, the more I realise just how important all creatures are to a balanced echo system and the sustainability of our own lives.

In February 2000, I was lucky enough to be a part of a group that went out to Romania to track Wolves and Lynx in the Carpathian Mountain, through the Scientific Exploration Society in conjunction with the Carpathian Large Carnivore Project run by Christoph Promberger.

Because the only person for years that had been allowed to hunt the Wolves and Lynx was the President of the country, they had been relatively protected and the forests had been kept healthy because the Wolves kept the Deer in check.

If you watch the video above which is the Wolves in Yellowstone Park, you will hear that their re-introduction has meant the trees on the river banks are growing again because the Deer are no longer destroying them.

From the smallest creature to the largest, they all have a place, each needs to eat and many are food. Others support plant life and the loss of one creature anywhere in the system can cause havoc for all of them.

Some no longer have a predator to keep their numbers in check and others can be decimated because of that lack of food chain control.

This Planet, all her creatures are on loan to us from our children, we are meant to be the caretakers – How good a job do you think we are doing?
