Does the Box Really Exist?
By Sara Jane
I am sure you have heard the saying “think outside the box”.
What does that mean?
More to the point, where did the box come from?
Does it really exist or is it a figment of an overactive monkey mind?
The more I think about this, the more I feel the box has been created by a section of society that wishes to keep the rest of us under control.
We are pigeonholed in school as clever, bright, not so bright.
We are judged on our ability to learn in the manner they choose to teach us and if we don’t understand, can’t grasp their explanations, we are not so bright.
Yet if they found alternative ways to teach, we may just prove to be brilliant.
It is all a matter of perspective and understanding.
I can speak from experience, I failed English language at O’level (as it was in those days), why because I have never been able to grasp grammar.
I always wished to learn languages but they always teach them using grammar, so I have failed miserably at that.
Yet I learnt to speak, read and write from a young age without having to understand grammar.
Today there is more understanding and many are receiving neurodiverse labels and receiving extra support in school.
Once we leave school which is our next box? the box of basic work or are we intelligent enough for further education (if the families can afford it)?
We are boxed in our beliefs, religious, political etc.
For me these are all created by a system which wants to keep control of us, wants to know what we are doing, how we are doing it and wants us to tow the line – their line.
Our ego/monkey mind has grasped on to what keeps others happy and therefore supposedly keeps us safe and acceptable and tries to ensure we keep within the confines of the boxes, so as not to stand out and upset the apple cart.
Having given up being a people pleaser, I have also thrown out the boxes.
I do things my way (without breaking the law), I no longer follow the crowd and I feel free.
I was never taught it is OK to love yourself, to believe in yourself, to trust yourself. Why?
I think the simple answer to that is we become too independent, we learn to think for oursleves and choose what feels right for us.
The more of us that live this way, we inspire others to do the same, become free thinkers.
We open to new possibilities and opportunities, we allow ourselves to live life, to learn, experience and grow in ways that can make others feel uncomfortable because we can no longer be controlled.
Are you still living inside the boxes others have created for you?
Are you ready to explore what lies outside those imaginary walls and step into a whole new world that is waiting for you to explore it?
We are all unique, we are all our own normal, we bring our own gifts in our own unique way.
Being ourself, is who we are here to be.
Namaste Sweet Soul
