Who Is Holding You Back?
By Sara Jane
Who is holding you back, stopping you from moving on in your life or even taking back control of it?
Is it a “friend”?
A family member or all the family?
Or more to the point “What” is holding you back?
Fear of being judged, what others will think or say, uncertainty?
For me the answer is simple, it is our “monkey mind”.
That part of our human experience that was given to us to support our learning and understanding, as a child to keep us safe.
Sadly it has taken its role beyond our childhood and in its “worry” form is still trying to protect us, keep us safe.
All those thoughts of “what if’s” that stop us in our tracks, are holding us back from living the life we are here to live.
It is not about getting cross or angry with your monkey mind, it is about thanking it for all the protection it supported you with as a child and letting it know, it has taught you well.
You are an adult now, you have an understanding of life you couldn’t have had as a child.
A suggestion: tell you monkey mind you are making its role with in your life more fun, more fulfilling, you wish to make it the Personal Assistant to your Heart ~ a very important role in supporting you to open to the purpose of your journey through this life.
A role, that Yes, includes an element of protection but more importantly supports you with knowing how and when, where and with who.
That supports you to be open to the opportunities being offered to you and choosing with discernment the ones which resonate with your heart and those that don’t.
Open to your intuition, inspiration, gut instincts and trust them rather than the worry monger your monkey mind has become.
There will always be those around you who will want to have their say, who think they know better than you or who are jealous, even envious of your belief in yourself and courage to do things they wouldn’t.
Those who want you to live their life for them because they are afraid too. But you are here to live your life not theirs and no one is here to live your life for you.
It is time to step out from the shadow of all those doubts, take the bull by the horns and step into the life that is waiting for you.
And Yes, I do know how this feels, it is just a little scarry but back in 1997 I took my first steps to find me, letting go of people and things that were no longer meant to be in my life and in that nearly 30 years, I have grown way beyond anything I could have imagined for my life.
You can do it too.
